Follow the latest Premier League transfer rumours today, including January targets, contract decisions and stories that have moved closer to – or further away from – becoming genuine deals.
The English transfer window is closed, so Premier League clubs cannot immediately register players contracted to other teams. Recruitment departments are nevertheless preparing for January, negotiating new contracts and monitoring players who could become available in 2027.
Latest update – 17 October 2026: Bournemouth’s position on Alex Scott has softened, with a substantial January offer now likely to receive consideration. Bournemouth Could Now Consider Selling Alex Scott
Alex Scott is the most significant change since the previous update.
Bournemouth had previously maintained that the England midfielder would not be sold in January. That position has now softened, with sources telling Sky Sports News that an offer worth more than £80 million, including add-ons, would have to be considered.
Other reports have placed Bournemouth’s preferred valuation closer to £100 million. The exact price is therefore unclear, but the important development is that Scott is no longer being described as completely unavailable.
Contract negotiations have also stalled. Scott’s current agreement runs until 2028, and Bournemouth have so far been unable to persuade him to sign an extension. Waiting until the summer would reduce the amount of time remaining on his contract and potentially weaken the club’s negotiating position.
Liverpool and Chelsea remain the two clubs most consistently linked with him. Chelsea submitted offers during the summer, while Liverpool’s relationship with former Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola may strengthen their position.
Scott’s thigh injury complicates any immediate discussion, but it is not expected to remove interest ahead of January.
Sky Sports has reported the latest details of Bournemouth’s changing stance on Alex Scott.
Status: 🟡 Developing. No bid has been submitted, but Bournemouth are now prepared to consider a sufficiently large offer.
JJ Gabriel Still Expected to Leave Manchester United
JJ Gabriel remains one of the more unusual transfer stories involving a Premier League club.
Manchester United have offered the 16-year-old a scholarship agreement in an attempt to retain him. That offer also improves the club’s compensation position if Gabriel joins another English academy.
The teenager requested the cancellation of his United registration after becoming unhappy with his development pathway. Despite the new offer, there has been no clear indication that he has changed his mind.
Bayern Munich have reportedly held further discussions with Gabriel’s representatives. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked, although none has announced an agreement.
His Irish passport could allow him to join a European Union club before turning 18, subject to FIFA’s rules for international transfers involving minors.
The financial consequences matter to United. An English club could be required to pay several million pounds through negotiation or a tribunal, while an overseas move may produce substantially lower training compensation.
The background to United’s attempt to retain Gabriel was reported by The Guardian.
Status: 🟡 Developing. United have made a formal offer, but an overseas departure still appears more likely than a new agreement.
Liverpool Monitoring Johan Manzambi
Johan Manzambi has been linked with Liverpool only a few months after joining Aston Villa from Freiburg.
Villa paid a club-record fee for the Switzerland international during the summer. The 21-year-old has already strengthened his reputation with several impressive performances, including a goal during Villa’s 6-0 Champions League victory over Fenerbahçe.
Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Manzambi as a potential long-term addition to their midfield. He has also been mentioned as a possible successor to Alexis Mac Allister if the Argentina international eventually leaves Anfield.
There is no suggestion that Liverpool have submitted an offer or opened negotiations with Aston Villa. A January deal would be particularly difficult because Manzambi has only recently joined Villa and remains under a long-term contract.
For now, this is a scouting story rather than an active transfer.
Status: ⚪ Early interest. Liverpool may be monitoring Manzambi, but there is no evidence of a bid or negotiation.
Arsenal Add Kim Min-jae to Their January List
Kim Min-jae has reportedly emerged as a possible defensive target for Arsenal.
The Premier League champions are currently without William Saliba, Piero Hincapié and Cristhian Mosquera. Most of those problems are not expected to last until January, but the injuries have again highlighted the demands placed on Arsenal’s defensive options.
Reports in Germany claim that Kim has been added to Arsenal’s recruitment list. Scouting chief Maurizio Micheli is familiar with the South Korea international from his successful period at Napoli.
Bayern Munich are not actively trying to sell the defender. Any deal would require Arsenal to pay a substantial fee, while Kim’s salary and the return of Arsenal’s injured centre-backs could make a January transfer unnecessary.
Aston Villa, Tottenham and AC Milan have also previously been linked with him.
Status: ⚪ Early interest. Kim is reportedly under consideration, but Arsenal have not made an offer and Bayern are not pushing him towards the exit.
Is Lisandro Martínez Leaving Manchester United?
Lisandro Martínez has been added to the monitoring list following renewed uncertainty over his Manchester United future.
The defender publicly criticised United’s recruitment strategy after the Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid. He later apologised for the timing of his comments and held discussions with Michael Carrick and senior club officials.
Carrick subsequently confirmed that the matter had been dealt with internally and included Martínez in the squad for the Premier League match against Leeds United.
Separate reports claim that the Argentina international is reluctant to extend his contract, which is due to expire in 2027. United may have an option to extend the agreement, preventing him from leaving for nothing next summer.
There has been no confirmed transfer request and no interested club has entered negotiations. His criticism of the board should therefore not automatically be treated as proof that he will leave.
Status: ⚪ Monitoring. The contract situation is worth following, but Martínez remains part of the first-team squad and no active transfer is under way.
What Happened to the Previous Transfer Rumours?
Several names have been removed from the main table because the stories have either ended or produced no meaningful new development.
- Richarlison: The forward remains outside Tottenham’s Premier League squad, but there is no current offer or negotiation with a Saudi club.
- Chemsdine Talbi: Sunderland ended the earlier discussions with Al-Ittihad and continue to include him in their plans.
- Michael Olise: Links with Liverpool and Real Madrid have not developed into an offer or active negotiation.
- Adam Wharton: Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle have been linked repeatedly, but there is no evidence that a deal is progressing.
- Morgan Gibbs-White: Tottenham’s reported interest remains a possible future story rather than an active move.
These players can return to the main list if a reliable source reports a bid, negotiations, an agreement or a firm club decision.
Is Erling Haaland Really Joining Arsenal?
No credible transfer approach has been reported.
A talkSPORT presenter suggested that Arsenal should try to sign Erling Haaland if Manchester City face a serious sporting punishment following the recent financial verdict.
That was an opinion expressed during a discussion, not a report that Arsenal have contacted Manchester City or Haaland’s representatives.
Manchester City are appealing the verdict, Haaland remains under a long-term contract and there is no evidence that he has asked to leave. The story is therefore not included in the transfer table.
The distinction is important. A former player, presenter or pundit saying that a club “should sign” somebody does not create a genuine transfer rumour.
Other Early January Links
Jarrad Branthwaite and Adrien Truffert have both been mentioned as possible Manchester United defensive targets.
Branthwaite has been linked with United across several transfer windows, while Truffert could provide cover at left-back. However, neither story currently includes a formal bid or confirmed negotiation.
These links should remain outside the main table until stronger information emerges.
Confirmed Since the Previous Updates
No new Premier League signing has been completed since the last edition of this page.
Two recent stories remain confirmed rather than active rumours:
- Yves Bissouma to Ajax: The former Tottenham midfielder joined Ajax as a free agent after his contract expired.
- Pedro Neto staying at Chelsea: Chelsea announced a new contract running until 2032, ending the immediate departure speculation.
Ajax confirmed Bissouma’s signing, while Chelsea announced Pedro Neto’s new contract.
Can Premier League Clubs Still Sign Players?
The Premier League summer transfer window closed on 1 September 2026.
Clubs cannot currently register a player who remains under contract with another team. They can still negotiate future transfers, agree pre-contract arrangements where permitted and sign eligible free agents if registration and squad rules allow.
That means an agreement could be announced before January without the player becoming immediately available. A contracted player moving between Premier League clubs would normally have to wait until the winter registration period opens.
