Axel Disasi – Crystal Palace
Axel Disasi will complete his three-match domestic suspension when Crystal Palace visit Brighton in Gameweek 7.
The defender received a straight red card for serious foul play during Palace’s defeat to Ipswich Town. He subsequently missed the league matches against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
Brighton away is the third and final fixture covered by the ban. Disasi should be eligible to return when Crystal Palace host Newcastle United in Gameweek 8.
His continued absence leaves Palace with fewer defensive options for the Brighton match. However, Jean-Philippe Mateta and several other Palace players are also unavailable through injury, so managers should distinguish between the club’s different types of absence.
Ryan Gravenberch – Liverpool
Ryan Gravenberch is suspended for Liverpool’s Gameweek 7 trip to Brentford.
The midfielder was dismissed after receiving two yellow cards during Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat against Manchester City. A second-yellow dismissal normally results in a one-match suspension.
Gravenberch will therefore miss only the Brentford fixture. Liverpool have confirmed that he can return for their home match against Brighton in Gameweek 8.
His absence creates an additional midfield problem for Liverpool, with Dominik Szoboszlai also facing a late fitness test. Gravenberch is not among the most heavily owned FPL players, but his absence could affect Liverpool’s structure and defensive prospects.
The suspension has been confirmed by Liverpool’s official website.
Rodrigo Bentancur – Tottenham Hotspur
Rodrigo Bentancur begins a three-match suspension when Tottenham host Coventry City in Gameweek 7.
Bentancur was sent off for violent conduct during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United. The midfielder reacted to an altercation with Luke Shaw by making contact with his head, leading to a straight red card.
A violent-conduct dismissal normally carries an automatic three-match domestic ban. Bentancur is scheduled to miss:
- Coventry City at home in Gameweek 7.
- Chelsea away in Gameweek 8.
- Crystal Palace at home in Gameweek 9.
Tottenham do not have a domestic cup fixture during this period, so all three matches covered by the suspension are Premier League games.
Bentancur should be available again when Tottenham visit Leeds United in Gameweek 10. His absence could create additional minutes for Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray or Mateus Fernandes in central midfield.
Pascal Struijk’s Red Card Has Been Overturned
Pascal Struijk is available for Brighton’s Gameweek 7 match against Crystal Palace.
The defender was initially sent off against Sunderland for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. That decision would normally have resulted in a one-match suspension.
Brighton submitted a wrongful-dismissal claim, which was upheld by an independent Regulatory Commission. The red card and the resulting suspension were therefore removed.
Struijk can be selected against Crystal Palace and should not be treated as suspended in FPL. Brighton confirmed the successful appeal in an official club statement.
Players Available Again in Gameweek 7
Several players included in the previous update have now completed their suspensions:
- Phil Foden: Available for Manchester City against Ipswich Town.
- Taiwo Awoniyi: Available for Coventry City against Tottenham Hotspur.
- Abdul Fatawu: Available for Ipswich Town against Manchester City.
- Reinildo: Available for Sunderland against Bournemouth.
- João Gomes: Available for Aston Villa after completing his earlier three-match ban.
Foden served part of his three-match suspension in the EFL Cup, which meant he missed only two Premier League fixtures. He is now available for Manchester City’s home match against Ipswich.
Awoniyi also served one match of his ban in the EFL Cup. He is eligible to return as Coventry visit Tottenham, although his starting position is not guaranteed.
Fatawu’s one-match suspension followed a dismissal for two yellow cards. He has served the ban and can return for Ipswich at the Etihad Stadium.
Which Premier League Players Are One Yellow Card Away From a Ban?
Three players have accumulated four Premier League yellow cards and are one booking away from an automatic suspension:

If any of these players receives another booking before his club completes its 19th Premier League match, he will serve a one-match league suspension.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Igor Thiago, Marcus Tavernier, Matty Cash, Ola Aina, Adam Smith and Jacob Murphy are among the players currently sitting on three yellow cards. They remain two bookings away from a ban.
Yellow-card totals are particularly relevant for regular starters. A player on four bookings can still be selected normally, but FPL managers should ensure they have a playing substitute in case a suspension is triggered.
How Do Premier League Yellow-Card Suspensions Work?
A player who receives five yellow cards during his club’s first 19 Premier League matches serves a one-match league suspension.
The timing of the fifth booking matters. If a player remains on four yellow cards when his club completes its 19th league fixture, he passes the first threshold and will not be banned for receiving his fifth booking later in the season.
Further thresholds apply:
- 10 yellow cards by the end of the club’s 32nd league match: two-match suspension.
- 15 yellow cards before the end of the season: three-match suspension.
Accumulated yellow cards are competition-specific. Premier League bookings do not count towards a player’s total in the FA Cup or EFL Cup.
A player suspended after accumulating five Premier League yellow cards must serve the ban in the Premier League. A domestic cup fixture cannot be used to complete that suspension.
How Long Is a Premier League Red-Card Ban?
The length of a suspension depends on the offence:
- Two yellow cards: normally one match.
- Denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity: normally one match.
- Offensive, insulting or abusive language: normally two matches.
- Serious foul play: normally three matches.
- Violent conduct: normally three matches.
These are standard punishments rather than absolute limits. The FA can extend a ban when an incident is considered exceptionally serious, when further misconduct occurs or when a player has a relevant disciplinary history.
A club may submit a wrongful-dismissal claim. If the appeal succeeds, as it did in Struijk’s case, the red card and automatic suspension can be removed.
Do Red-Card Bans Apply in the FA Cup and EFL Cup?
Yes. Red-card suspensions can carry across the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
That is why players such as Foden and Awoniyi were able to serve part of their suspensions in EFL Cup fixtures. A domestic cup match can reduce the number of Premier League rounds missed without reducing the total length of the ban.
European competitions are treated separately. A domestic suspension does not normally prevent a player from appearing in the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League unless UEFA has issued its own punishment.
