Managers begin with a budget of 150 million. Under the updated 2026/27 rules, a complete squad contains 15 outfield players and two goalkeepers.
The positional structure is more flexible than in previous seasons. According to the Bundesliga’s 2026/27 squad-building update, managers can select:
- Two goalkeepers
- Between four and six defenders
- Between four and six midfielders
- Between two and four forwards
A maximum of three players may be selected from the same Bundesliga club. Managers must also remain within their available budget.

3. What Is the Bundesliga Fantasy Top 11?
Managers select a formation and lineup before the opening fixture of each matchday. However, Bundesliga Fantasy uses an automatic Top 11 system.
At the end of the matchday, the game counts the 11 highest-scoring players from the squad who fit the selected formation. A player initially left on the bench can therefore enter the scoring team automatically if he outperforms one of the starters.
This removes the need to make manual substitutions while matches are being played. However, the formation still matters because it determines how many players from each position can be included in the final Top 11.
Managers can also choose three star players:
- One defender
- One midfielder
- One forward
Each star player receives a 50 per cent points bonus if he earns a place in the final Top 11. Unlike FPL, there is no single captain receiving double points.
4. How Do Transfers and Player Prices Work?
Managers can make unlimited changes before their first matchday. Once the campaign is underway, they normally receive up to five transfers between matchdays.
There are also several unlimited-transfer periods during international breaks, the winter break and selected gaps in the schedule. This makes Bundesliga Fantasy more forgiving than FPL for managers who want to rebuild their squads regularly.
Player values are dynamic and can rise or fall according to performance. Buying an improving player early may therefore increase both the strength and total value of a squad.
Transfers can be reversed until the first match of the next matchday begins, allowing managers to respond to late injuries or team news.
The Daily Bonus provides another advantage to active users. Managers can earn up to 500,000 in additional weekly transfer budget by maintaining a seven-day login streak.
5. How Does Bundesliga Fantasy Scoring Work?
Bundesliga Fantasy awards points for considerably more than goals, assists and clean sheets.
Shots, chances created, successful dribbles, ball recoveries and other attacking or defensive contributions can all matter. The official 2026/27 scoring update introduced or expanded several categories, including:
- Goals created
- Indirect assists
- Long-range goal bonuses
- Big chances created
- Shots blocked by an opponent
- Successful dribbles
- Ball recoveries
Negative actions can reduce a player’s score. These include missing a big chance, being dribbled past and conceding goals in relevant positions.
Playing time also affects some team-based points. For example, a defender playing only half of a match receives a proportional share of the clean-sheet points awarded to a defender who completes the full game.
The result is a scoring system that rewards overall involvement. A midfielder can post a strong total without scoring if he creates chances, wins possession and influences his team’s attacking play.
6. Bundesliga Fantasy vs FPL: What Is the Difference?
The main differences are the number of transfers, the automatic Top 11 and the wider scoring system.
FPL places greater emphasis on choosing the correct starting lineup, managing limited free transfers and selecting one captain for double points. Bundesliga Fantasy automatically finds the best eligible XI and lets managers select three star players for a 1.5x multiplier.
Bundesliga Fantasy also produces much larger numerical scores because so many individual actions earn points. Watching a player accumulate points through shots, recoveries and dribbles can feel very different from waiting for an FPL goal, assist or clean sheet.
Its transfer system is more generous, encouraging regular squad changes. By comparison, the transfer market, rival bidding and buyout clauses are the defining features of LALIGA Fantasy.
7. Is Bundesliga Fantasy Manager Worth Playing?
Bundesliga Fantasy Manager is free, official and particularly suitable for supporters who enjoy statistics and active squad management.
FPL remains easier to understand at first glance, but the German game rewards a wider range of performances and reduces the frustration of benching the wrong player. Its flexible 17-player squad, Top 11 system and five transfers between matchdays provide managers with more freedom to react.
